Students will be able to wear any (school appropriate) hate ALL DAY by simply donating $1 at the beginning of the day at a table in the main entrance.

After donating the dollar, students will receive a stamp/sticker that indicates they have donated and are allowed to wear their hat!

This is a great cause that all students should support, plus you get to show off that sweet hat you bought that one time.

All students interested in running must

• Be in good academic and social standing

• Have attended the meeting in D211 on Thursday, May 9th
• Turn in a nomination form to A or B house by 2pm Monday, May 20th
• Students running for a Class Officer position must have a written speech (approved by Mr. Leighton or Mr. Penza) and be prepared to deliver the speech Wednesday, May 22nd*
• Those running for Student Government postions are encouraged to submit a letter to the student body that will be displayed on Pantherbook (sent to leightoj@franklin.ma.us) by Monday, May 20th

*Each candidate must provide a written speech that expressed his or her reasons for seeking office. It should also include what he/she hopes to accomplish if elected. This speech is limited to one sheet of paper. This speech (with your name on it) must be turned in with the nomination form. This is the speech you will deliver to the class, no changes.

Nomination forms can be picked up in D211 and require signatures from 20 members of your class, your class advisor and assistant principal.

However, even though it has the same capability of a camera on a cellphone, there is something about this app that makes it more….”legit?” Maybe not the right word, but I know that one of the reasons for this app becoming such a frenzy is because of its easy access to taking a goofy picture of a friend and then sending it to them when they least expect it. Or at least that’s my special little reason.

Don’t get me wrong though, there are definitely some setbacks to this app that not many of us care to think about. Like for example, pulling our cellphones out because we’re too weak to fight the temptation, and getting caught in the act by a teacher. Or even worse when we send the embarrassing picture to the wrong person…whoops.

Well those are my issues with this fantastic app, and if i’m missing something, then you’re obviously free to comment below. What’s Next For Franklin High?

Have you ever wondered who came before us, or who will come after? Are we what the class of 1924 thought we would be? Will the class of 2020 be anything like us? Are we moving forward or are we just standing still, waiting for some other class to make a name for Franklin High?
With a new school being built it’s a chance for Franklin High School to be known for more than a field house full of memories. The sophmores today will be the first seniors in the new school, leading the way for everyone after us. The high school now has a reputation being run down and this new high school gives us an opportunity to have pride in where we go to school.
The first high school was Horace Mann High School, where students attended from 1896-1924. In those days girls our age were strapped into corsets and weren’t allowed to be in the presence of a man unless they were chaperoned and boys were held to the highest of standards. The high schools after Horace Mann High changed how girls were perceived and how the boys were expected to act. What will we change, moving from this high school to the next?

As the T.V channels and radio stations continue to remind us, on Monday, March 15th, an explosion was set off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. We know-or at least we think we know, because who knows what facts are being fed to us- the basics of what went down on this unforgettable (but dare I say predictable?) day.

Like Kaleigh, many students here in our school have been honestly tied to this day that undoubtedly made them think and made others ask; “what is going on”?! This is exactly what I wanted to find out by getting up close and personal with FHS students who were there to witness, or were somehow connected to the events that occurred last Monday.

It was at the finish line where Kaleigh’s sister was standing, that the two bombing suspects  set the bomb that changed both their lives. Miraculously, it was the last minute shoes on her feet that prevented  her from receiving any other injuries than the burns on her forehead.

“She was wearing sneakers and decided to change into her boots”, says Kaleigh. “She didn’t even know why”. It turned out that when she arrived at the hospital there were bebes lodged into her boots, and later found out that the length of her boots had actually prevented damage to her legs.

This was one life changing story out of many that are all yet to be shared here on Panther-Book.
